Linda Miller, PhD is Associate Dean of Basic Science at New York University School of Medicine. Linda received her B.A. in biochemistry from The Johns Hopkins University, and briefly studied G proteins at the Zentrum für Lehrer und Forschung, Kantonsspital, Basel, Switzerland. After receiving her Ph.D. in immunology from Harvard University under Timothy A. Springer, she was a postdoctoral fellow with Jim Ihle at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, MD. She was the immunology editor at Science for almost 12 years, then joined the Nature Publishing Group in 2000 to launch Nature Immunology as its founding Editor. In 2005 she became Executive Editor for Nature and the Nature journals, responsible for developing editorial policies, finding out the questions with which researchers are most intrigued, and ensuring that societal/policy issues that impinge on science get aired and discussed.
