Biorepository Specimen and Data Management and Integration

CHIBI works with Medical Center IT and the Cancer Center Tissue Bank to provide a biospecimen repository database. The database utilized the Freezerworks commercial software, which has been implemented on a virtual machine for enhanced security and easy access by users through a web browser interface. The database enforces an ontology for an institution-wide set of common data elements for all pathology samples and similar standards for DNA and RNA extracts. Integration with the institutional electronic medical record and clinical research database are in development.
